Baden Powell – ‘Samba Triste’

Baden Powell is one of the greats of Brazilian music, who achieved international recognition as a composer and virtuoso guitarist. He was unique in his ability to bridge the gaps between Afro-brazilian rhythms, bossa nova and classical music. In this video we see him playing one of his best-known compositions, ‘Samba Triste’.

Chaka Khan – ‘Night in Tunisia’

Chaka Khan’s soulful rendition of the Gillespie/Byrd jazz standard ‘Night in Tunisia’ (aka ‘And The Melody Still Lingers On’) is a classic in its own right. This live performance from the early 80s, featuring the Brecker brothers, still blows me away all these years later.
